For example, we saw 60 times the number of these claims involving motorbikes in 2023 compared to the previous year. And 4 in 10 of them happened between 3-7pm, during the school run and rush hour!
Use it as evidence
Dash cams can help by providing your point of view of incidents like this and capturing the offender’s number plate. This could help protect your no claim discount and make sure your insurer can make a claim from the third party.
They even have their uses when you’re not on the road. A dash cam can double up as CCTV for your parked car, which may prove useful if it gets damaged when you’re not around to see it.
But, like most things, you can’t rely on your dash cam 100% of the time. The view of the incident can be obstructed and may not always capture the full story. That’s why your insurer will still need evidence from eye witnesses.
