We have a range of security measures and techniques in place within our systems, including transmission over the internet and when it is being managed by our people or agents.
Safety, security and scams
Check out some useful tips to help you reduce the risks to your security online.
Be on guard
Don’t click on links in suspicious emails or SMS messages and regularly check your accounts for any suspicious activity – contact us if you’re unsure.
Security updates
Keep software and security on phones, laptops and other devices up to date.
Trust is key
Watch out for impersonation scams through SMS, emails or phone calls. If you’re unsure check with the company or person directly, by using a known, trusted number.
Passwords and authentication
Use strong and unique passwords, don’t share them with anyone and use a secure password manager to store them. Use multi-factor authentication for your personal accounts, such as banking, mobile phones and emails.
If you suspect your identity has been compromised, contact your provider as soon as possible.
If you believe you’ve interacted with a scam relating to Allianz, contact us by calling, email or Live chat
Tips to prevent scams
Email
Phishing emails are designed to trick you into providing your personal information, or clicking on links that lead to fake websites, or that download malicious software.
Some hints and tips to spot these emails are: Poor grammar and spelling, Plain text/absence of logos, Sense of urgency and high risk attachment file types like exe. scr, zip, .com, bat.
If you receive and identify a scam email, don’t interact with it, delete it immediately.
Phone and SMS
These are calls or text messages claiming to be from reputable sources that you know and trust.
Examples include unexpected calls or texts asking for personal information, being asked to make an urgent payment and a text with suspicious links.
If you receive a phone call or SMS scam, don’t interact with it, hang up or delete the message.
Repairs and spares
These may involve contacting you directly, without permission, asking you to authorise things like repairs or warranty extensions.
Don’t authorise or sign any documents until you’re sure it’s a legitimate call/email/SMS – it’s a good idea to verify with the company/person first, especially if you’re not expecting any communication.
Pension scams
You may receive unexpected and unsolicited contact about your pension that is designed to persuade you to transfer (move) your pension savings or to release funds from it. This may be referred to as a free pension review, a loan, a savings advance, a one-off investment, cashback, or something else, putting pressure on you to act quickly. Cold calling about pensions is illegal.
Don’t interact with any calls, SMS or Emails, report your concerns about a potential scam to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). They also have advice on Pension scams and offer further guidance using their ScamSmart information.
Allianz UK do not offer pension products to customers.
