If you wish to add protected NCD cover to an existing policy, you can do this in your online account but you cannot add it if you've had a claim that would impact your NCD.

With our Allianz cover level, you're covered for putting the wrong fuel in your vehicle. We'll pay to fix the engine damage and also drain & flush the fuel tank, as well as covering any damage to the engine.*

Misfuelling cover is not provided on our Allianz Essentials cover level.

*You will need to pay your accidental damage excess, this amount is shown in your documents.

Yes. Please make sure the correct legal owner (who has a financial interest in the vehicle) is named on your policy e.g: lease company/company car/policyholder.

Comprehensive car insurance:

Having comprehensive car insurance means you won’t have to pay the full amount for repairs to your car and any third-party property if you’re involved in an accident. With comprehensive car insurance, you’re usually still able to claim back the cost of putting everything right – even if the accident is deemed to be your fault, or if you don’t know (or can’t determine) who caused the damage. You usually just have to pay the claims excess, which can vary from one policy to another (so it’s always good to check).

And that’s why being ‘fully comp’ – or to give it its full name, fully comprehensive car insurance – will save you money compared to other types of insurance if you’re unfortunate enough to be involved in a car accident, or have your car stolen.

It’s worth pointing out, though, while you can claim for the costs of repairing property and your car in the event of an accident, it doesn’t usually include things like breakdown cover as standard, or any fees arising from a legal dispute.

Third-party, fire & theft car insurance:

Third party, fire & theft is a mid-level cover. This gives you a bit more than basic third party cover, but not as much as a comprehensive policy. It doesn't cover the cost of any damage to your own car after an accident.

Basically, 'third party' refers to the other person involved in a claim. So, this cover level protects you if you damage someone else's car or injure somebody. It also covers your own car for fire damage, theft and attempted theft.

Comprehensive cover is what most peoople choose and some insurance, like Allianz Car insurance, doesn't offer third party, fire & theft.
